Shari
(c)2007 Sally Jaye
Shari dropped her purse out on the sidewalk
Fumbling all around for her keys
Everybody's leaving now with someone
So Shari gets herself up off her knees
Where did all the men go in this big fat city
My brother wouldn't watch her walk away
He'd say darling I know where you're at
And I've been there before
You need some company
She's just gonna go home and fall on the floor
Wake up in the clothes she wore the night before
No one there to scold her about the way she's livin'
No one there to pick up all the pieces she's been missin'
What's the matter baby, Why you so sad?
You look like an angel but you're walking like you had
Too many heartaches, too much wine
Sun's gonna come up
And I will never leave you behind
She got married in a church in Loganville
Gardenias and pennys in her shoes
He left cigarette burns in her wedding dress
Her momma cried on the day she left
She's just gonna run off and do what he says
My girl's always gettin' pushed around like that
I raised her to be tougher but she's such a fool
Could of waited longer for a love that's true
What's the matter baby, Why you so sad?
You look like an angel but you're walking like you had
Too many heartaches, too much wine
Sun's gonna come up
And I will never leave you behind
Now she's at the market on her block
And wonders why she's buyin beer at 2 oclock
Where did all the men go in this big fat city
He left you for another in a barroom quicky
She's just gonna run home and fall on the floor
Wake up in the clothes she wore the night before
No one there to scold her about the way she's livin'
No one there to pick up all the pieces she's been missin'
What's the matter baby, Why you so sad?
You look like an angel but you're walking like you had
Too many heartaches, too much wine
Sun's gonna come up
And I will never leave you behind
I'll never leave you behind
